Objective

Reduce inappropriate use of antimicrobials to help reduce microbial resistance and the incidence of antimicrobial-caused adverse drug reactions, all of which will help improve patient outcomes and the efficiency of spending.

Activity description

Completion of all modules of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention antibiotic stewardship course. Note: This activity may be selected once every 4 years, to avoid duplicative information given that some of the modules may change on a year by year basis but over 4 years there would be a reasonable expectation for the set of modules to have undergone substantive change, for the improvement activities performance category score.

Suggested documentation

Documented completion with a passing score of all available modules of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) antibiotic stewardship course. Include the following element:

1) Record of completion and passing score – Documented participation in and completion (e.g., certificate of completion, screenshot) of all available modules of the CDC antibiotic stewardship course.

Improvement Activity details reference the CMS Quality Payment Program and change each performance year. Confirm requirements against the official CMS pages before attesting.
